  1. Benefits to Registering WinSmtp

  4. Well, there is the obvious benefit... you don't break the law.  However,
  5. since copyright law and computer programs is still in its infancy, there
  6. are also the following reasons to support this shareware effort:

  8. - free support for the shareware via Internet.
  9. - responsive to fixing problems with the program and delivering a new
  10.   copy to you, the user.
  11. - free upgrades with minor versions.  Will also be notified of upgrades and
  12.   be told where to pick them up or mailed out.
  13. - discount on product if a major upgrade is performed.
  14. - no 'nag' screens when the program is started up.
  15. - avoid having to install the program every 30 days to keep it working.
  16. - no embarassing tag line in the message that says the product is
  17.   unregistered.
  18. - ability to specify information for specific hosts.  Great for setting up
  19.   communication within a given subnet.
  20. - Extended SMTP support with options for controlling it.
  21. - ability to use the retry dialog to force a bounce or to force the retry of
  22.   a given message.
  23. - ability to check subnets.  Essential if trying to reacha person at a.b.c.d
  24.   and there is a mail gateway at b.c.d
  25. - control over the EXPN and VRFY commands; security issues.
  26. - ability to control the reply when recieving a message from a remote system.
  27.   Necessary to get some programs to work with any SMTP server.

  45. merely trying to break even on costs and maybe get a bit extra for my time.
